How can you not laugh...

Chloe and Emily are potty trained, but they still wear Pull ups at night. One morning we heard "Mommyyyyy...Daddyyyyyy.....see my hat???" and were greeted with this scene.

Glorious day...

Saturday was an amazingly beautiful day. We packed a cooler and headed to Stony Brook State Park for a picnic lunch and some fun in the sun on the awesome playground. It was a lovely day.

spring is in the air...

As soon as the nice weather arrives, Joel starts to look forward to camping. I enjoy camping, but Joel really, really loves it and around this time of year, he starts to clean the camper and organize things for our first trip. We have taken the girls camping every year. Their first camping trip was to Letchworth Park when they were 8 months old. We all enjoy being outdoors and it's relaxing to be away from the phone and housework and just enjoy some quiet time together. Chloe, Emily and Daddy went out in the camper the other night to check it out and test out the bunk beds. The last few years, the girls have shared the bottom bunk, but we may have to do something different this year. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with someone sleeping in the top bunk, but Chloe sure enjoyed it up there!

Under Construction

Joel is having a small room in the basement finished and made into an office. After the workers left for the day, two inspectors came in to see if everything was up to code. Apparently some extra drilling, hammering and measuring was in order. I don't know who had more fun...Daddy or the inspectors!!

Princesses on Princess bicycles

So we caved and bought some princess bicycles. The plain bicycles were about $20 less expensive, but I scrimp on so many things for the girls and have gotten lots of hand-me-down toys and things instead of buying new, so we decided to splurge and get the princess ones. Of course, Chloe and Emily were thrilled. Now if they would just learn to pedal....

Four cute chicks

Joel found these cute chick cupcakes at Wegmans. The girls thought they were so cute! And they were really tasty, too.

Ready for anything...

We got some new helmets and knee pads so we would be safe riding our new bicycles. The first ones we bought were too small, so we returned them for a bigger size. Chloe was so enamored of her new helmet and knee pads that she tried them on and then refused to take them off for several hours. Even though we were in the house. And not near any falling objects. So I guess I won't encounter any opposition when it's time to put them on to ride bikes??

Emily the architect

Emily is going through a phase where she will gather items from around the house and "organize" them into a small island that is usually smack dab in the middle of the walkway. In a way, it is really cute and she gets upset when it's time to to clean it up. On the other hand, it's a little annoying to turn around and have this big pile of stuff right smack dab in the middle of the room! Here are two examples: exhibit one: stools from the kitchen with pool noodles woven in smack dab in front of the refrigerator while I'm trying to make dinner, and exhibit two: several stools, many pillows, doll strollers, grocery cart all gathered into an island right in the path to the kitchen. Oh the quirky things kids do!!
